Bar Minute-zvah!

I passed the bar exam! And I have a job! With my brain and this economy, that makes two miracles (possibly three?).

But don't start bombarding me with legal questions just yet. First of all, I am still an idiot, and (B) I am not even a lawyer idiot, yet. But, in a few weeks, I will be sworn in by the bar commissioners and sworn at by everyone else.

And don't start bombarding me with lawyer jokes, either. I don't get them. Like: "Q. Did you hear about the lawyer hurt in an accident? A. An ambulance stopped suddenly." Nothing to laugh about there.

No ambulance chasing for me. I will be working for an Insurance Defense litigation firm in Salt Lake City. It's a small firm (I will be lawyer number 9) with a family centered attitude. And great people. Especially the partners. Really great partners. Kind, generous, kind partners. Handsome, too.

Elizabeth is happy that I am making money, now. Plus, I'm not as grumpy as I was in law school and when I was studying for the bar.

Elizabeth bought an air freshener for our car. The car smells better, now.

Jeremy,
Congratulations on successfully completing the gauntlet that is the bar exam. I still question my sanity after three bar exams. I wish I could have stayed put and taken just one.

I am excited for your job and firm type. I work at the same size of firm and really enjoy it. Having the right job environment was really important for me considering the statistics that show such a high depression rate with this profession and a low job satisfaction. Personally, I think those numbers would improve if moderation in hours and work culture was more moderate and family oriented. There is live beyond law and the work.

I am glad that you have that great feeling and satisfaction of having passed the bar. The stress in preparing and taking the bar in unreal. FYI, a partner told me that preparing for a trial is just as bad. For now do something special to celebrate the victory. Go take a helicopter ride over Zion National Park or something. It has been earned by you and your wife.

Well done Minute Man and congratulations.

Congratulations! Lawyer..Banker...we sure know how to pick the popular professions. Disappointed to hear you are not coming our way with the Coast Guard but I suppose Salt Lake City will have to do. ;)

It's been almost a decade since Jeremy had a spare minute to update his blog, a great cautionary tale for all those considering the lawyering profession.
